Wrong expectations of the digital transformation

In the printing industry, the topic of digital transformation is still viewed with skepticism. This may partly be due to the associated costs and the changes that will be necessary in the company, but above all it is the false expectations of change in existing processes:

“Digital transformation is the introduction of a new MIS”

The digital transformation is not simply about implementing a software solution, but rather a structured improvement of the individual processes and their interaction in a complex administration and production workflow.

A successful transformation of the existing processes to a higher level of digitization can only be successfully implemented if a precise analysis is preceded and these are examined and further developed with regard to their potential for improvement.

Promising optimization can begin only when it is clear which part of the existing production workflow is to be optimized and what the expected result must be.

It is precisely this necessary – over 25 years – experience from a wide variety of projects that we as a software service provider make available to our customers in order to accompany them in this process.

“Digital transformation can be bought as a software solution”

In many companies, the prevailing opinion is that you only have to buy the right software solution – and existing problems in the workflow largely resolve themselves.

This is a misconception that often leads to previously suboptimal processes not being questioned and sometimes even being implemented again with effort in the new software: digital transformation cannot be bought as a finished solution. This will not change much in the existing processes and the desired result will not be achieved. On the contrary, the introduction of a software solution on this basis will tend to lead to higher implementation costs and friction losses in the company.

Consistent digital factory planning is the prerequisite for a successful digital transformation. All processes are put to the test and an extensive target / actual analysis is carried out. On this basis, you can then begin to optimize the individual sub-areas with the support of the appropriate software solution that also maps all these sub-areas.
